Gautam Gambhir has been pretty vocal on several issues ever since he became the Member of Parliament (MP) from the East Delhi Constituency. He is someone, who speaks his heart out and never gets into his shell after being bombarded with criticism. Even when he was a cricketer, Gambhir used to express himself, oblivious of the comments against him.

And even after retiring from the sport last year, Gambhir hasn’t changed his nature for which he has come under fire. India is presently immersed in the jubilation of its 73rd Independence Day and Gambhir took it as an opportunity to send across a rather strong message. The 37-year-old wished everyone on the auspicious occasion and prayed for the well-being of the nation.

Here is the English translation of the post: “This land should stay even if it’s with my blood. My country should stay irrespective of whether I stay or not. On India’s 73rd Independence Day, I wish for progress and peace in our nation. Wishing you all a very happy Independence. Jai Hind.”

Here is Gambhir’s tweet

Gambhir comes down hard on Afridi

Recently, India underwent a massive change as Article 370, which gave a special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, was scrapped. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, put forth the development in the Rajya Sabha and the Narendra Modi-led Indian government was showered with praises.

The state has been divided into union territories of J&K and Ladakh. However, the Indian government’s decision didn’t go down well with Shahid Afridi. The former Pakistan cricketer lashed out on social media, expressing his concerns over the bloodshed taking place in Kashmir.

However, Gambhir replied to him with a scathing tweet, reminding him that the violence has been taking place in the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). Gambhir also expressed his displeasure after the infamous Pulwama Attack back in February.
