The discarded Indian opener Gautam Gambhir turned 37 on October 14. The Delhi cricketer is currently playing the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 for his home side. He celebrated the special occasion with a scintillating century off just 69 balls in the quarterfinal of the tournament against Haryana. His knock helped Delhi chase down 230 runs without much fuss.

On his birthday, the ‘World Cup Hero’ was flooded with wishes on social media. The current Indian opener Rohit Sharma also wished his former teammate on Twitter. Rohit Sharma shared a picture of his along with Gautam Gambhir on the micro-blogging site while both of them shook hands alongside the IPL trophy.

“Birthday wishes to our World Cup hero, have a great day @GautamGambhir,” the 31-year-old wrote in his tweet.

Gambhir comes up with a cheeky reply

Gautam Gambhir was quick to thank Rohit Sharma for the birthday wish. However, it was done in quite a cheeky way which will no doubt leave the fans amused. He referred to the Indian vice-captain as “Rolls Royce” in his tweet. He probably termed Rohit as Rolls Royce because of his class and elegance, just like the cars of that particular maker.

Along with a ‘Thank You’ message, he also passed on a subtle warning for the Windies side. He hoped that Rohit was oiling his bat and said that the Windies team and all others are waiting for his bat to blaze in the ODI series against them. To make things even more cheeky, he himself wrote ‘#HappyBirthdayGautamGambhir’ at the end of his reply.

“Thanks Rolls Royce. Hope you oiling that bat, Windies are waiting and so are we for your bat to blaze. #HappyBirthdayGautamGambhir,” he wrote.

Rohit Sharma is a part of the 14-man squad announced for the first two ODIs against the Windies. He will be coming back into the side fresh after the recent triumph in the Asia Cup. The right-handed batsman seems to be in great touch with the bat and will be hoping to put his best foot forward in the series which begins on October 21, 2018.
