In the recent past, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan has emerged as the backbone of the Men in Green batting line-up especially in the shortest format of the game. The opening batter was again at his fluent best as Pakistan locked horns against Zimbabwe in the first T20 International of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Complex in Harare on April 21, Wednesday.

Opening the innings alongside skipper Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan launched an attack on the opposition’s feeble bowling line-up. Rizwan scored a stunning 82 runs in just 61 deliveries to propel Pakistan towards a decent total of 149 runs in their 20 overs. The keeper’s knock included ten boundaries and one maximum at a strike rate of 134.43.

As Pakistan won the match by 11 runs, Rizwan was awarded with the Man of the Match award. The official Twitter handle of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also acknowledged the efforts of their frontline batsman as they shared a snap of the wicketkeeper receiving his award.

“@iMRizwanPak is the player of the match! Raising hands #ZIMvPAK | #BackTheBoysInGreen | #HarHaalMainCricket” PCB tweeted.

The tweet by PCB also caught the attention of South African bowler Tabraiz Shamsi and he gave a glimpse of his witty and humorous side by taking a hilarious jibe at Mohammad Rizwan. Retweeting the post by PCB, Shamsi told Rizwan to take a break and give a chance to other people to score runs for the team as they also need to earn their living.

“@iMRizwanPak STILLLLLLL scoring runs for fun…. give someone else a chance also brother. Other people have to make a living too lol”

Zimbabwe stuns Pakistan in the second T20I

Though Pakistan won the first T20 International on the back of a stunning knock by Mohammad Rizwan, they were comprehensively outplayed by Zimbabwe in the second match. Playing at the same venue in Harare, Zimbabwe posted a below-par total of 118 runs on their board in 20 overs. For Pakistan, Mohammad Hasnain and Danish Aziz shined with the ball as they picked two wickets each.

Chasing 119, Pakistan were outplayed by the Zimbabwe bowlers as Luke Jongwe went all guns blazing against the visitors. Luke ran through visitors’ batting line-up to pick as many as four wickets at an economy rate of 4.7. The exploits by Jongwe resulted in the hosts scripting a victory by 19 runs.
