The qualifying scenario for the Winnipeg Hawks was quite a simple one. They just had to ensure that they don’t lose by a big margin. On the other hand, the Royals would qualify irrespective of the result of the game. But, the Hawks have done more than what was required to grab the third place on the points table. They lost 5 wickets for the next 27 runs which completely upset the balance of things. Although Shaiman Anwar tried to add some valuable runs at the end, he was dismissed in the 19 over by Ali Khan. Furthermore, Fidel Edwards picked two wickets in the final over of the innings to bowl the Royals out for just 141 runs.

It was quite an easy chase for the Hawks. For the first time in the tournament, David Warner got to double figures. He along with Lendl Simmons got the side off to a good start. Simmons, after scoring 38 runs walked back to the pavilion retired hurt as his nail came off with a cut. Warner gave some time for himself, scored 42 off 35 balls and got out in the 15th over. Mark Deyal, with the help of his 19-ball 37 took the side home.
