'Go back to sleep' - Nick Compton gets slammed after he tweets that COVID-19 tests are useless

Due to the coronavirus, a lot of countries are facing a huge crisis situation. One of the countries which have been majorly hit by the COVID-19 is the United Kingdom. The government is conducting continuous tests for COVID-19 and trying to help the citizens as much as possible. However, one of the prominent cricketers in the country, Nick Compton doesn’t seem to agree with this.

The former England cricketer voiced his opinion on Twitter. According to him, the COVID-19 tests are nothing but useless. He said he feels that these tests are nothing but a complete waste of money. He also said that it is a waste of time and valuable resource for a very small outcome.

He wrote on Twitter that, “Can someone explain to me what the point of COVID testing is? Complete waste of time, money and valuable resources for a very limited outcome!”

The cricketer had posted this tweet from Knysna in South Africa. It is quite unclear what point he was trying to make actually but the fans of Twitter decided to pounce on him instead. The player received some really harsh criticism from the public on Twitter for his tweet.

One of the twitter users from the United States of America said that this was the dumbest tweet he had seen all weekend.

Nick Compton played a handful Tests for England. The former Somerset man played 16 Tests scoring 775 runs at an average of 28.70. He also had scored two centuries during his Test career which lasted between 2012 and 2016.

At the first-class level, the right-handed batsman had scored 12168 runs at an average of 40.42. He played 194 matches. Other than those matches, the batsman has also played 121 List A matches scoring 3174 runs at an average of 35.26. The batsman had also represented Middlesex during his career.

Coming back to the COVID-19 crisis in the United Kingdom, more than 2.4 lakh people have been affected by the virus in the country. The numbers are getting higher and higher with each passing day. Unfortunately, more than 34,000 people have lost their lives to the COVID-19 in the UK.
