The wait is finally over as ‘83’ has hit the theaters. The sports drama showcases how an ‘underdog’ Indian team defied the odds and lifted the World Cup in 1983. As the scorecards of that tournament are easily available, fans were aware of the climax. However, the brilliant direction and précised acting made this movie a treat for fans.

The major focus was on Ranveer Singh, who portrayed India’s then captain Kapil Dev. Besides him, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu and Tahir Bhasin were also in significant roles. With the subject being Indian cricket team’s historic triumph and the star cast being massive, director Kabir Khan had a stern task at hands. The biggest question was what more can the film offer with the fans being aware of the entire plot.

However, Kabir embraced this challenge and put up a masterpiece. Credit should also be given to the actors especially Ranveer, who literally disappeared into Kapil Dev. The screenplay even made fans forget what happened at the end as there was tension in several theaters when the tough time of the team was shown.

There were also ecstasy when Kapil’s massive sixes, during his iconic 175-run knock against Zimbabwe, were on display. As the movie portrayed the Team India’s victory with precision, critics and celebrities from the B-Town gave a green signal to the film.
