Graham Ford still has the burning desire to coach any team

Former South African first class player who is better known for his coaching capabilities, Grahan Ford, recently stated that he still has a burning desire to coach any team and has been following Sri Lankan cricket closely. Earlier last month, Ford, who was the Sri Lankan Coach, stepped down from the position citing difference of opinion with the SLC management and therefore relinquished his job as Head Coach before the expiry of his contract.

Ford has been keeping a close eye on Sri Lankan Cricket back home in Durban. Zimbabwe impressed one and all with their win by a margin of 3-2 over the Lankans at their own backyard. Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka are now engaged in a battle of Tests. Lankans have their back against the walls after Craig Ervine’s sensational innings.

Ford expresses his desire to coach again

“I can say yes, I do follow Sri Lanka cricket very close. Yes, I still have definitely a burning desire to coach at a high level, whether that is at international level, first class level, or franchise level, I don’t mind but would like to use what I have learned to hopefully assist some promising players” commented Graham Ford according to Kashmir Times.

Earlier in the press release,  SLC president Thilanga Sumathipala thanked Ford for his service for Sri Lankan cricket.”We have to thank Fordy for his invaluable contribution to Sri Lanka Cricket. He joined us at a time where we were quoted by the ICC as being on the ‘verge of suspension’ and at a time where things were volatile and uncertain, Ford had faith in us and has given us his fullest support. This was a decision arrived at mutually after careful consideration and deliberation and we are both confident of its propriety” quoted Sumathipala in the press release according to espncricinfo.
