India and Pakistan have not played any bilateral cricket since 2012-13 due to the political tension between the two countries. There are no signs of resumption any time in the near future. Both the teams face off only in the ICC events that too with opposition for it. However, the famous wrestler the Great Khali has taken opined himself about the resumption of the contest between the arch-rivals on the field.

Khali is the only Indian wrestler to have won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2007. He has appeared in four Hollywood films, a couple of Bollywood movies and several Television shows so far. Though he loves watching cricket during his free time and rarely misses out on any of the matches involving India and his favourite cricketer Virat Kohli.

Khali believes that one should keep politics away from cricket and the fans should be treated with the frequent games between India and Pakistan. “The politicians have unnecessarily stretched the matter in this case and all of them have planned about building the issue. I think the level of excitement between the two countries when it comes to cricket is amazing,” he told CricTracker during an exclusive interview also hoping that the bilateral ties between the arch-rivals would resume soon.

On India-South Africa series

He also believed that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli will break all records with the way he is batting currently and he was confident that India will win the ongoing ODI series against South Africa. “Virat Kohli is very young and breaking the records should be a big thing for him as he is batting beautifully right now. All my wishes are with the Indian team and they will surely win the series against South Africa,” he added.

Before concluding Khali also backed Rohit Sharma to come good after enduring a poor run of form so far on the tour. He was of the opinion that the whole India should be very proud of him as he is a terrific cricketer and will surely play a match-winning knock in the series.
