England and India are currently involved in an intriguing contest on the first day of the much-awaited Test series in Birmingham. The hosts were lucky to win the toss on a belter of a track as there was no doubt in the mind of Joe Root about batting first. Though the visitors bowled well and kept them on the tenterhooks during the post-lunch session. However, amidst the battle on the 22 yards, India head coach Ravi Shastri was caught napping in the dressing room as Harbhajan Singh caught him clearly and poked fun at him.

The 45th over of the innings was in progress when the incident took place. Shastri was sitting alongside Sanjay Bangar who was listening to the commentary with the earpiece attached to his left ear. The Cameraman hilariously spotted the 56-year-old slipping into a snoozing mode.

At the same time, Harbhajan Singh was in the commentary box who is covering the series for Sky Sports. He was quick to poke fun at the visitors’ coach and advised him to watch him the exciting game while also requesting Bangar to give his message to Shastri. “Ravi Shastri having a nap there. Wake up, Ravi. Sanjay, can you convey my message to Ravi?” he said as the panel his fellow commentators enjoyed the moment.

As far as the ongoing Test match is concerned, Joe Root is showing his class once again. He has held the England innings together and has batted with immense concentration. India have bowled superbly as well and it is the partnership between Root and Jonny Bairstow which holds key now.

The third session is currently in progress and both the teams are looking to get an upper hand. If the visitors manage to pick a wicket now, it will be interesting to see how England respond.
