In the first Qualifier, the Men in Yellow were reduced to 62/6 staring a possible defeat. However, Faf Du Plessis who was batting since the start managed to proceed slowly. He batted with the likes of Deepak Chahar and Harbhajan Singh to take them home. He found good support from Shardul Thakur at the other end as they managed to chase down the target of 140.

Du Plessis finished off things in style with a six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first ball of the last over. The Proteas Skipper registered a splendid half-century. Scoring an unbeaten 67 runs from just 42 balls, he hit five boundaries and four sixes. It was a well-calculated knock and came at the right time for the Super Kings.

Harbhajan Singh took off to Twitter to appreciate the class act by Faf Du Plessis. He further went on to laud Shardul Thakur for his short cameo that was handy in the end. Scoring 15 runs off 5 balls, he helped people forget his earlier spell of 1/50 while bowling.

Bhajji further described it as a great game of cricket. It was indeed a thrilling encounter as both teams faced a lot of twists and turns. However, at the end of the day, it was the Chennai Super Kings who had the last laugh. They managed to win by 2 wickets and five balls to spare with a splendid fightback.

There was also praise for the Afghanistani mystery spinner Rashid Khan. The right arm spinner bowled another splendour spell. Conceding just 11 runs in his spell of four overs, he got a couple of wickets. Indeed he got the prized wicket of MS Dhoni, completely outfoxing the CSK skipper.

Here’s what Bhajji tweeted
