There are some particular shots of the players that have become their trademark. The straight drive of the bat of Sachin Tendulkar, pull shots of Ricky Ponting, Chris Gayle’s sixes on the leg side and MS Dhoni’s patented helicopter shot.

The sight of MS Dhoni hitting that swirling shot to yorkers from fast bowlers is what endeared him to the Indian fans and a shot that was a regular feature in his arsenal, still comes out from time to time and the excitement still remains the same every time.

Many players have been seen emulating the helicopter shot and have come up with their own version. The closest to Dhoni’s helicopter shot is the version by Afghanistan’s opener Mohammad Shahzad. Shahzad hits the ball in the same way Dhoni does, but uses more wrists than the veteran, while Dhoni uses the forearms to power the shot.

Pandya gives it a try

Hardik Pandya has been out of cricket for sometime after his appearance in the New Zealand ODI series. Before that, Pandya had injured his lower back during the Asia Cup 2018 and was out of commission for some time. During his layoff from injury, Pandya got involved in the Koffee with Karan controversy for his statements on the talk-show and this further delayed his return.

Pandya was named in the Indian team to face Australia in the T20I and ODI series recently, but just before the commencement of the series, he was ruled out due to the stiffness of the back and was replaced in the ODI series by Ravindra Jadeja.

Hardik Pandya went back to the NCA in Bengaluru for rehabilitation and was recently seen in the Mumbai Indians training camp, preparing for his comeback to cricket in the IPL 2019. Pandya will turn out for the three-time champions and will also display his fitness levels for the Indian team management, given he is a crucial member of the team heading for the ICC World Cup 2019.

During the net practice, Hardik Pandya was seen trying his hands at the helicopter shot made famous by MS Dhoni and the result was shared in a video on Hardik’s Twitter account.
