Harsha Bhogle is known as one of the best commentators, who picked the best Indian skipper in the history of India during a live session with former South African all-rounder Shaun Pollock. The International cricket council shared a clip of the same with the fans in their recent social media activity.

In the long history of cricket, India has given some fine skippers to international cricket that includes players like MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli. All the aforementioned players did an impressive job at that post during their time. However, there was a lot of difference in their style of leading the national side due to which it was quite difficult for the Indian commentator to pick the best out of them.

‘India has been blessed with captains’: Harsha Bhogle

ICC shared a clip through their official handle in which Harsha Bhogle was asked to pick the best skipper in the history of Indian cricket by a female host. To which, 58-year-old said that India is quite honoured to have some of the best skippers in the last 20 years.

He added that Sourav Ganguly took India when they were going through a match-fixing phase As per him, Rahul Dravid also did an amazing job as a captain in his two years as the captain of Team India followed by others like Anil Kumble, MS Dhoni and now Virat Kohli.

Harsha Bhogle recited the fact that the way in which Australia gives credit to Allan Border for changing their way of playing cricket. In India, the same the style of Team India was changed by none other than Sourav Ganguly, according to Harsha Bhogle.

“India has been very blessed with captains in the last 20 years. Coming out of that whole match-fixing phase, when you wanted a dynamic and in-your-face captain, you had a Ganguly. Not much talked about, Rahul Dravid’s record for two years as captain was excellent.”

“Then you had, during that terrible Sydney Test match, Anil Kumble’s strong presence there. Then Dhoni, now Kohli. We have actually been lucky but I think in many ways as the Aussies talk about Allan Border as someone who changed their cricket, we talk about Sourav Ganguly,” Harsha Bhogle said.
