Haris Rauf made a name for himself after playing really well in the Big Bash League 2019-20. This paved his way to the Pakistan squad. As he has played well in Australian conditions, he has become a front-runner to make it to the World Cup squad later this year.

During a recent interview, the pacer was asked which batsman would he consider as his main challenge at the ICC T20 World Cup. While answering the question Rauf first said that as it is the World Cup, there will be top players from every country. However, he further said that the greatest challenge would be bowling to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Based on my experience in BBL, I should be able to do well in the World Cup: Haris Rauf

He then further said that doing well against quality batsmen like Sharma and Kohli would be great for his own confidence. He said that as he has done well in BBL, he would be able to do well in the World Cup in Australia. He also said that he doesn’t let batsmen dominate him, which makes him perform well. The fast-bowler also mentioned that he was successful against Steve Smith as he didn’t allow the batsman to put the pressure on him.

“This being a World Cup competition, the quality of opposition will be very tough as top players from each country will be playing in it so all batsmen will be difficult to bowl to. But looking at the top T20I players in the world, to be the greatest challenge will come from the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma,” Rauf said during an interview with PakPassion.

“To do well against such top-quality batsmen will do wonders for my confidence and to be honest, based on my experience in BBL, I should be able to do well in the World Cup if given the chance. It is my nature that I don’t let any batsman dominate me and that is how I did so well in BBL 09 even against such quality batsmen like Steve Smith, as I didn’t allow him to put any pressure on me at all,” he said.

The Pakistani speedster played for Melbourne Stars in the BBL season of 2019-20. He was the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He took 20 wickets in 10 matches. His performance in BBL helped him get a maiden call-up for the national side.
