All is not well for Sarfaraz Ahmed, the Pakistan captain. He has had a terrible time of late as his team is going through a rather abysmal run in the ongoing World Cup in England and Wales. The wicketkeeper-batsman has come under fire after the Men in Green’s poor run of form in the mega event. Pakistan is currently placed ninth in the points table with three points from five matches.

Their next game is scheduled on June 23 against South Africa at the iconic Lord’s in London and it’s pretty much a must-win encounter for them. Pakistan last played against India at the Old Trafford in Manchester and went on to lose the encounter by 89 runs (DLS Method). After the defeat on June 16, the fans and supporters tore Sarfaraz apart into pieces with severe backlash.

The outraged people blamed the skipper as well as the rest of the team members for having junk food and not putting their focus on staying. To add insult to injury, Sarfaraz has become a meme material, which can’t be deemed as something to boast off and be proud of. To make things worse, the 32-year-old player has also had to face the disgraceful act of body-shaming.

A not-so-happy Hasan Ali

Yesterday, at a shopping mall while he was with his child, a fan came and asked for a selfie, captured a video while verbally assaulting Sarfaraz calling his body-structure similar to that of a pig. The situation didn’t ruffle the Pakistan skipper and he decided to walk away from the place with dignity. The fan’s act hasn’t gone down well with the netizens. Even the Indians poured in support for Sarfaraz.

In the meantime, Hasan Ali, who’s had a difficult World Cup himself, was devastated by the shameful occurring. He pleaded to respect the families of the players. While he said that people can criticise the team, hurling abuses at the captain should be avoided, especially in public places.
