Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian cricketer, was of the opinion that some players try hard to build an image on social media platforms. Most of them are either on Twitter, Instagram or Tik-Tok. A number of cricketers, both current and former, are present on those platforms and keep sharing their opinions on various hot topics or stories from their personal lives.

The Chandigarh-born Yuvraj, who is also on Twitter and Instagram, said that the players try way too hard and sometimes end up doing things out of character. The southpaw put forth his opinions in an interaction with Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah on Instagram Live.

“I feel they try too hard. They become what they are not when they are on social media. I have seen many players who are otherwise very decent but on social media, they become something else,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying during the chat.

Bumrah echoes Yuvraj Singh’s words

Even Bumrah agreed to Yuvraj on the matter. The fast bowler reckons that youngsters always tend to look for validation on social media platforms. But as per him, it shouldn’t play a role in someone’s life if that person has self-confidence.

“I have seen youngsters want validation on social media. That people say they are good. People’s opinions should not change the perception and it should not matter. You need to have confidence in yourself,” Bumrah said.

During the chat, Yuvraj and Bumrah also had some fun moments. The former tried to troll the seamer over his batting record, citing his numbers across all the formats. However, Bumrah hit back, saying he had a top score of 42 off 20 against Goa.

Yuvraj and Bumrah had the privilege of playing together for the Mumbai Indians (MI) In the cash-rich and prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL). The duo has also rubbed shoulders with each other for the Indian cricket team.

Even as India is under a lockdown until May 3, a number of cricketers have resorted to Instagram to chat with each other. Even the likes of Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya had an interaction. A couple of days ago, Virat Kohli did an Instagram Live with AB de Villiers.
