The Indian cricket teams’ ordeal in New Zealand finally came to an end as the hosts wrapped up the second Test in Christchurch by a clinical margin of seven wickets. By doing that, the Kane Williamson-led unit not only collected 120 ICC Test Championship points but also completed a brilliant comeback to whitewash the Indians in both ODI and Test series- 3-0 & 2-0- after having suffered the similar fate in the T20I series (0-5).

One of the major disappointment from India’s performance was the lacklustre returns from India’s captain Virat Kohli. Kohli endured a rare off series where he was unable to breach the 20-run mark across the four innings.

Kohli’s abysmal returns have paved for detractors to question his technique and temperament, but the current chairman of selectors isn’t too perturbed by Virat’s form.

“We are talking about a legend who has been a run-machine for many years. He is also a human and he can have one odd series where he doesn’t perform. One series should not go against him, he has been a phenomenal player,” Prasad said as quoted by India Today.

India will now take on South Africa in three ODIs

Meanwhile, Prasad was attending one of the DY Patil tournament fixtures and the current chairman of selectors seems to be happy with the progress made by the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan a, nd Hardik Pandya- all of whom are currently recovering from injury.

“I am here to watch Shikhar Dhawan playing in the DY Patil tournament. I am here especially to watch Dhawan, Bhuvi, and Hardik. I am happy with the way they are progressing,” Prasad said.

India will now take on South Africa in a three-match ODI series but there is still no clarity whether the outgoing selection committee will pick the team or not. Prasad too admitted that he doesn’t have any idea.

“I have no idea about that, we will have to wait for the instructions from the secretary and BCCI president. I am not in a position to answer this,” Prasad added.
