Here is how the WTC 2021-23 points table stands after SA vs BAN 2nd Test

South Africa retained their No. 2 spot in the WTC Points table after a whitewash against Bangladesh in the two-match Test series that concluded on Monday (April 11) at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth. Bangladesh lost the second Test by a whopping 332 runs as the Proteas continued their momentum.

The Proteas, just one below Australia in the table, have bagged 71.42 percentage points, having won five of the seven Tests played so far, in the 2021-23 cycle. Earlier, they had thrashed India to a 2-1 victory at home ground, followed by a settled game with the New Zealand that ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Aussies are well placed at the top spot, with 75 percentage points after their historic win against Pakistan in their away series. After the first two games of the three-match series ended in a draw at Rawalpindi and Karachi, Australia took the upper hand in the final game at Lahore to conclude the series 1-0. They are the only team who are undefeated so far. Before the Pakistan series, Australia pounded England 4-0 in the home Ashes season.

India are at third place

India is placed third in the points table with a percentage of 58.33. They have six wins in the 12 Test matches played so far, as the other games account for three defeats, two draws, and a match ending in no result. India’s recent assignment was against Sri Lanka, which they won 2-0 at home.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in the fourth and fifth places respectively, with the former having 52.83 percentage points to their name, followed by 50.00 for the latter. Having played seven games, Pakistan has three wins, two losses, and an equal number of draws. Sri Lanka has not played much Test cricket during the cycle as of the four, they’ve equal number of wins and losses.

The sixth, seventh, and eighth spot is occupied by New Zealand (38.88), West Indies (35.71), and Bangladesh (16.66) respectively. England struggle at the bottom position, even though they’ve played the most number of Tests compared to other teams. They have only one win all the games played so far, which came against India during their home series.

The series could not be concluded due to the Covid-19 scare at the camp. Post the India series, they lost their games Ashes series against Australia by 4-0, followed by an unsuccessful West Indies series away from home.
