Cricket fans worldwide are occupied with the high-voltage T20 World Cup 2022 being in action. The gala tournament is taking place down under Australia with as many as 16 teams contesting for the prestigious trophy. While the top eight teams were already given a slot in the Super 12, the other eight sides were asked to lock horns in the preliminary stage to determine the remaining four positions in the Super 12.
Notably, seven editions of T20 World Cups took place before the 2022 season. Defending champions Australia will host the marquee tournament for the first time ever. Notably, no team has ever defended their title and the Aussies have a good chance to change that trend on their home soil.
The stocks in T20 cricket have gone higher in recent years and fans are delighted to see the global competition taking place again in less than a year of the previous campaign.
With T20 cricket being a different ball game, players need some specific skillsets to thrive. While bowlers have the onus to take wickets while keeping the scoring rate down, batters need to accumulate runs at a quick pace. Hence, the strike rate column becomes more significant in this version of the game. A high strike rate meant a player doesn’t hesitate in playing big shots. Several players have showcased their hitting abilities in the T20 World Cups as well.
