There is so much of competition in Indian cricket right now that in spite of featuring in as many as 80 IPL matches and proving himself as a reliable left-arm pacer, Jaydev Unadkat has played just 7 ODIs and 10 T20Is for India. In fact, the last time Unadkat wore the Indian jersey in the international arena was in March 2018.

And now, Unadkat has opened up on playing for his country once again. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer stated that he still believes that his chances will come, and all he needs to do is to keep performing well. He further stated that after the 2019-20 season, he picked up 40 wickets, and also added that he has taken 100 wickets in the last two seasons put together.

Unadkat even confidently revealed that he is currently in the best phase of his career as far as red-ball cricket is concerned. He also said that he does not want to think about who was picked for the country and who was not.

“See, I can say that I should have been given the first opportunity, but to be honest, that is just not me. I believe my chance will come like it came previously when I did well. Right after the 2019-20 season, I also picked up 40 wickets, so I have 100 wickets in the last two seasons. I am probably in the best phase of my life in red-ball cricket. I really don’t want to see it that way that they picked someone else ahead of me,” said Unadkat in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda.

Unadkat further stated that he has not been picked in the Indian side because the current set of bowlers who are representing India maybe have something that he is currently lacking. He concluded by stating that he wants to keep performing the way he has been performing for the last 3 years, and is ready to grab whatever opportunity comes his way.

“Maybe they saw something in them that I was lacking. I just want to keep doing what I have been doing for the past 2-3 years, and be ready to grab the opportunity when it comes my way,” concluded Unadkat.
