Kiwi leg-spinner Ish Sodhi is delighted and confident after taking a five-wicket haul in the four-day game between New Zealand A and India A at Mulapadu Cricket Complex. The home side played incredibly well and gained a convincing victory by an innings and 31 runs. Even though his side lost the game, it was a big day for the leggie who found some form with a fifer in the first innings.

The whole game majorly was dominated by the spinners from both the A teams. The India A spinners- Karn Sharma and Shahbaz Nadeem claimed a total of 16 wickets among them in the match. Whereas the visiting side’s spinner managed 8 wickets including a five-wicket haul by Sodhi.

I am feeling confident enough

He stated that he was feeling very confident after his great bowling effort on a flat wicket. “I am more confident and really pleased with my bowling today. The pitch was flat but when I saw the Indian bowlers pick wickets, I felt I can do it too,” said Sodhi as quoted by Sportstar.

The Kiwi national team will be touring India next month for a limited overs series. Sodhi also talked about the experienced he gained when he last toured India, last year.

“Yes when you watch bowlers like Ashwin and Jadeja take so many wickets, it is not certainly about bowling like them but trying to emulate their feats,” said the leg-spinner.

Rahul sir always guides us

A show which was dominated by the bowlers, India A’s stylish batsman Shreyas Iyer showed his class and composure by scoring an incredible hundred. Iyer credited coach Rahul Dravid for his guidance and invaluable experience which helps the boys to grow as a team.

“Rahul sir always tells to spend as much time as possible out there in the middle. I am just trying to do that and enjoying my batting. Well, I suffered cramps when I turned back to take an extra run when I was in 90s. It was very difficult to bat on but glad that I controlled my game to reach the century mark before a bad shot selection saw me get out,” said Iyer.

“I back myself under pressure. It is not a conscious effort to attack right through innings. Yes, when in 30s and 40s, I do try to attack to make the bowlers bowl to my strengths. We are all used to playing in these conditions which are definitely challenging to both the sides,” concluded the right hander.
