Shahid Afridi has been vocal about his thoughts on India and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Recently, he gave a statement against the policies made by the Indian government for which was highly criticized. Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh were among the cricketers who criticized Afridi’s comments. Gautam Gambhir, the-cricketer-turned politician, also had a few Twitter spats with the former Pakistani captain.

The former all-rounder, who is known for speaking on diplomatic issues like Kashmir, has again said that it’s his duty to speak up against injustice wherever it is appearing. In a recent interview, Afridi said that the Indians don’t like whenever he speaks about Kashmir but it is his duty to do so. According to the Pakistan veteran, every religion teaches an individual to be a good human being.

Every religion teaches us about humanity: Shahid Afridi

“Every religion teaches us about humanity and being good human beings. It is not about any religion or country for me I have always spoken up when there has been an injustice, ” the 40-year-old said in an interaction with Cricket Pakistan.

Earlier this year, Harbhajan Singh had requested for some donation for a Foundation with which the Afridi is associated. But after Afridi compared the Indian Prime Minister with coronavirus, Bhajji responded by saying that they are not friends anymore. Afridi had said– “The world is infected by a deadly disease, but what’s more dangerous is in Modi’s heart and mind.”

Meanwhile, Afridi also supported Pakistan for their challenge against England in the upcoming Test series. He said that the management which is handling the team has a lot of former star performers and they should be able to help the team with the amount of understanding they possess.

He also praised the new centrepiece in the batting lineup, Babar Azam. According to the former leg-spinner, the Babar has a lot of talent and he can win matches for the nation single-handedly. “He is going to be the backbone of the Pakistan batting and he is a very focussed player. In the coming days he should single-handedly win matches for Pakistan,” Afridi concluded.
