India is all set to lock horns with England for a four-match Test series commencing on February 5. After India’s huge success against Kangaroos last month, they are being deemed as absolute favourites to rule the series. In the same light, former Pakistan cricketer and commentator Ramiz Raja has picked India as clear cut favourites to win the high-profile series. With Australia’s tour of South Africa being cancelled, this series will decide the second finalist of the World Test Championship.

World no1 Test side New Zealand have already reached the finals of the marquee event, and India would be looking forward to sealing its place after winning Tests against Englishmen on their home soil. During a discussion on YouTube show Cric Cast hosted by Sawera Pasha, Raja was asked to open up on his views regarding England’s upcoming tour of India.

“I have no doubt India will defeat England although the visitors have got good practice in Sri Lanka for playing against spin. This is not the same England team as before, where they used to get hardship allowance to tour the sub-continent. They used to say that no one watches these series, so even if they lose two or three Test matches, it will not be a problem,” said Raja.

India has outstanding options for every situation: Ramiz Raja

Raja believes that England leveled up their game after whitewashing Sri Lanka, but they will not gain respect from the world until they conquer their final frontier. They would attack through spin, but India has players ready for every condition, and they would give them some tough times, reckoned Raja.

“But now they have the idea that until they conquer this last frontier, they will not get the respect from the world. They have become a better team now and select their team based on horses for courses. They will attack through spin, but India has outstanding options, there is no doubt about that,” added Raja.

It would be a thing to see which cricketing giant will rule the series and clear its way for the Test Championship finals.
