Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi, on Saturday, confirmed that he has been tested positive for the Coronavirus. He requested his fans to pray for his speedy recovery while stating he has been feeling unwell since Thursday and suffered from body pain as well. As soon as the news broke out, wishes flooded in for Afridi as his well-wishers and former teammates wished to him recover from the virus quickly.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has also hoped that Afridi regains full fitness as soon as possible. The southpaw also reiterated the fact that even though he has political differences with the 40-year-old, he wants the latter to recover soon. Gambhir also stated that no one should be infected with the virus and those who have contracted it in India should also recover.

“Nobody should be infected with this virus. I have political differences with Shahid Afridi but I want him to recover as soon as possible. But more than Afridi I want every person infected in my country to get well as soon as possible,” he said while speaking at Salaam Cricket 2020.

Pakistan should help their own people, says Gautam Gambhir

Recently, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had offered to help India during this pandemic as the cases in the country are rising sharply. However, Gautam Gambhir suggested that Pakistan, which also has more than 1.3 lakh Coronavirus cases, should look to help its own people first. Moreover, he also thanked the neighbouring country for the assistance offered.

“I have to worry about the people in my country. Pakistan has offered to help India but they need to provide help in their own country first. They have offered to help and I am thankful for that but first, they need to eradicate the cross-border terrorism,” he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s head-coach and selector Misbah-ul-Haq also hoped that Shahid Afridi recovers from COVID-19 soon and pointed out his relief efforts through his organisation. “My prayers & well wishes are with Shahid Afridi. May Allah help him recover soon.

“He was doing a lot of charity work in Balochistan & Northern Areas for people of those regions. Throughout this situation he’s been helping the poor and has been doing an excellent job,” he said.
