I haven't replaced Navjot Singh Sidhu in The Kapil Sharma Show: Archana Puran Singh

Former Indian cricketer and popular commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu landed himself in trouble after making comments on Pulwama attack. The cricketer turned politician defended Pakistan as he believes that the whole country can’t be punished due to some individuals. While he condemned the attack, his defensive stance for Pakistan angered a lot of Indians on social media.

Indian public was angered by the comments made by Sidhu. A lot of people wrote to Sony TV and Kapil Sharma to remove him from the popular comedy show. The channel and the show finally agreed to sack the former cricketer who has appeared in the show in all three seasons. There were reports that Archana Puran Singh has already replaced Sidhu but the actress told media that the reports are not true.

“It (the terror attack) is a cowardly and dastardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished, for a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?”Navjot Singh Sidhu said as quoted by NDTV.

The two episodes were shot before the sacking of Navjot Singh Sidhu

The popular actress revealed that she has not received any offer from Sony TV to permanently be a part of the show. She pointed out that the two episodes were shot before Pulwama attack as Sidhu was busy somewhere else. While Archana Puran Singh said that she might consider an offer, but she won’t consider it as an opportunity as the context is very serious.

“No, I haven’t replaced him. I have not received any official information from Sony Entertainment Television or anyone to be a permanent part of the show. I shot two episodes for ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ before the Pulwama attack. He (Navjot Singh Sidhu) was busy somewhere due to which the channel approached me for shooting two episodes, and I did it.

The context of the whole issue is so serious that for me to consider it as an opportunity would be wrong. I can only consider this request to join the show only once it is made to me. I can’t pre-empt the request,” Archana Puran Singh was quoted as saying by News 18.
