'I howled till about three in the morning'- Virat Kohli after he was not picked in the team

Virat Kohli, the current Indian skipper has emerged as one of the finest batsmen of modern-day cricket. He is too often compared with the likes of Sir Vivian Richards and Sachin Tendulkar for his run-making spree. However, his route to glory was never a cakewalk as he faced many rejections before turning out to be a superstar. In an online session with students, he shared one of the instances when he cried all night after he was not selected in the state team.

The 32-year-old is currently enjoying his time with his better half and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma while in quarantine due to Coronavirus outbreak. And, he has become quite socially active on different social media platforms in order to pass his time after being away from the game.

In a heartwarming gesture, on Tuesday, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, also nicknamed as ‘Virushka’, spoke about the ups and downs related to their lives and career. They also shared the thought on how they get motivated.

Kohli said that once he got rejected from the state team. He added that he cried the whole night till morning at 3 AM and couldn’t believe the fact that he was not selected by the selectors. The current Indian skipper also added that he was performing well at that time still he failed to get into the team.

The Delhiite recited that soon he went to his coach and asked the reason behind the rejection as he was clueless over the fact that he performed well yet he failed. However, it was his own passion and commitment that helped him in getting his motivation back in order to perform better than before according to Virat Kohli.

“The first time I was rejected in the state selections, I remember it was late at night and I just cried. I howled till about three in the morning and I could not believe it. Because I scored well, everything was going perfectly for me. I performed till I reached that stage and I was rejected. And I kept asking my coach for two hours, why didn’t it happen? And I couldn’t make sense of it. But when there is passion and commitment, that motivation comes back to you,” said the 31-year-old
