West Indies fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell has made quite a name for himself in the past few months thanks to his amazing swing bowling and his completely different way of celebrating wickets. He marches and salutes to the pavilion followed by opening his arms to the heavens in tribute to Jamaican armed forces, of which he is a part of.

Cottrell had made his debut way back in 2013 in Kolkata in what was Sachin Tendulkar’s 199th Test match. He made his T20I debut in 2014 against England and ODI debut in 2015 versus South Africa and was part of the 2015 World Cup West Indies team. After that, he battled injuries and form for some time, but made a brilliant comeback into the West Indies team after participating in some Global T20 Canada tournament.

His exploits in the 2019 World Cup where he was the highest wicket-taker for the Caribbean team with 12 scalps from nine matches, made him very popular amongst the masses. The 6’3” tall left-arm bowler has been very active on social media as well, taking time out of his busy schedule to have conversations and Q&A on Twitter where he indulges in conversations with his fans, with many of them being Indian cricket fans.

Sheldon Cottrell knows a lot of Hindi swear words

Cottrell was part of the West Indies team that faced India in the ODI series at home recently and has made friendships and acquaintances with Indian players as well. As everyone knows, whenever you become friends with someone foreign you make an effort to learn some words of their native tongue. Therefore, when one fan asked Cottrell whether he learnt some Hindi or not, the quick had a very funny answer to this.

The bowler said that he knows how to greet in Hindi, say Namaste and some swear words as well. He also admitted to learning some new and great ones from the stump mic recently. The fan asked, “@SaluteCotterell Hi  bro Do you know Hindi…..”
