Virat Kohli’s transformation from a chubby-faced youngster to a supremely-fit cricketer is as remarkable as batting. Virat Kohli arrived in international cricket in mid-2008 on the back of leading India to glory in the U19 World Cup. However, he could not make much of an impression in the early days of his career although he showed promise.

But as time passed, Kohli started showing glimpses of what to expect from him in the coming days. And with the turn of the decade, he completely transformed himself. Virat Kohli completely changed his lifestyle and it not only changed his look and fitness but also helped him take his batting to a different level altogether.

One person who has watched Virat Kohli’s transformation from close quarters is none other than former England skipper Kevin Pietersen. The legendary batsman was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in IPL in 2009 when Kohli was still finding his feet in the game. And thus one Kohli shared an old and current picture of his, Pietersen posted a cheeky reply.

Kohli, on Thursday, took to Instagram to post a couple of pictures of himself, writing:

“#TransformationThursday and my reaction says it all πŸ‘¦πŸ»βž‘πŸ§”πŸ»”

Pietersen then cheekily replied: “I remember that guy on the left!!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚”

A decade to remember for Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli, meanwhile, is finishing this decade as the most decorated batsman. No other player in the history of the game has managed to score as many runs in a decade than Kohli. The India skipper scored runs at will this decade as he showed unprecedented consistency with the bat.

Kohli scored a total of 20,688 runs from 380 international matches. At present, he is the only player who is averaging more than 50 across all the three formats. Overall, he has amassed 8818 in Tests, 11036 in ODIs and 2450 in T20Is. Talking about the 2010s, he is the leading run-scorer in this decade in ODIs and T20Is while he is trailing only former England captain Alastair Cook in Tests.

Kohli has so far hit 27 Test hundreds and 42 ODI centuries and has also hit 7 double hundreds during this period. He is also leading the list of batsmen with most fifties in this decade with 95 international half-centuries.
