There is something about vintage white-ball kits. Seeing the modern-generation players turn back the clock and don those kits is a dream of every cricket fan, as it proceeds to bring back the memories of the good old days of the past.

Last year, Cricket Australia and New Zealand decided to fulfil the wishes of the fans when they asked them to vote for their favourite vintage jerseys; the ones that they want to see their current-day players to wear. And, unsurprisingly, most of the fans across the Trans-Tasman voted in favour of the 1999 World Cup kits that their respective teams donned during that quadrennial event.

Both sides rewind the clock by donning the fan’s favourite kit during the first ODI of the recently postponed three-match series and was one of the major talking points.

There is no doubt that the 1999 World Cup kits of each and every team were class apart. They were vibrant and pretty. attractive. Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram also believes that the 1999 jersey was probably the best he donned during his celebrated career.

Shoaib Akhtar takes a sly dig at Wasim Akram

Wasim Akram took to Twitter where he wrote: “One of the best things about playing for Pakistan was proudly wearing my uniform, and this one had to be the best ODI kit I had ever worn. It was the perfect representation of our nations colours, language, and flag and it also looked  really cool  @shoaib100mph.”

Akram had posted a photo of him having a seemingly animated conversation with Shoaib Akhtar. Commenting on the photo, the Rawalpindi Express cheekily asked his then captain Akram as to what he was saying to him in the photo.

‘Payan lagta hai about Ziada daant parr Rahi hi Mujhe. Bantayan Phir kya keh rahay that?  @wasimakramlive’ Akhtar replied.

To which Akram hilariously replied that he was asking Akhtar if there was any chance of bowling straight. “I was probably saying any chance of bowling straight shabby,” Akram replied.

Akhtar then proceeded to sarcastically say to Akram that he was the most accurate bowler that the left-arm captained. “Janay dain @wasimakramlive Bhai, I was probably the most accurate bowler you captained,” said Akhtar.
