Star pacer Pat Cummins has been appointed as the 47th skipper of Australia’s Test side ahead of high-profile Ashes as Tim Paine stepped down from the captaincy after being involved in a sexting scandal. Paine was involved in a sexting scandal with a woman colleague back in 2007, the chats of which were made public in the recent while. However, Cummins recently opened up on the questions he was asked before being handled the charge by the CA panel.

Cummins was asked in an interview if the CA panel asked him any confession that he would like to make before taking the big charge. The pacer added that there were a couple of questions put in front of him but he won’t like to go into those details right now.  He stated that he had a very open and comfortable discussion with the CA panel.

So, we both left it feeling really comfortable: Pat Cummins

“Yeah, there were a couple of questions. I won’t go into detail. It was a really good open discussion. We talked about a lot of different things. So, we both left it feeling really comfortable,” said Cummins while speaking to ABC sport.

While Cummins has been made the leader of Australia’s Test side, Steve Smith has been appointed as his deputy who was earlier the skipper of the side before the ball-tampering saga of 2018. As Australia will be playing the first Ashes game on December 08, their pace unit had a little less time to prepare as they were busy in their T20 WC campaign. However, their bowling coach added that there won’t be excuses from their end and the same would be the case for England as well.

“It was always going to be a shortened prep, and less than ideal switching formats and quarantine and all that stuff. But I think the art of the modern-day cricketer is to be able to adapt to that. There’ll be no excuses from our end and I’m sure there’ll be no excuses from England’s end either,” said Australian bowling coach Andrew McDonald.
