The Wimbledon is currently underway and Roger Federer, one of the legendary players of the grass court, progressed to the quarterfinal of this year’s tournament. He has won 20 Grand Slams, the most by any player and is one of the contenders to lift the championship. Yesterday, he played against Adrian Mannarino and comprehensively won by 6-0, 7-5, 6-4.

In an hour and 45 minutes, the Swiss legend rolled over his hapless opponent. The likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal also made their way into the next round and the enigmatic personality may get to meet the other favorites as the event moves into the next stages. Earlier, Federer had mentioned about his admiration for Sachin Tendulkar and yesterday the tennis player was seen emulating the Maestro.

In one of the strokes, he smacked a backhand and his opponent returned the ball. Thereafter, Federer decided to display his cricketing prowess and pulled out a proper defensive stroke. The shot immediately went viral on the social media after being posted in Wimbledon’s Twitter handle.

The shot also was appreciated by the International Cricket Council (ICC). In fact, they humorously crowned Federer as the number one ranked Test batsman. They also posted its picture on their social media account.

Here is ICC’S reply

Sachin Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen to have played cricket. Such was his class that he was compared to the likes of Sir Donald Bradman. He is currently the leading run scorer in Tests and ODIs and the records are unlikely to be broken at least in the near future. He also boasts of 100 international centuries.

The cricketer eventually retired back in 2013 after the second Test between India and the Windies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Tendulkar also played for the Mumbai Indians in the cash-rich Indian Premier League and scored one century for them against the Kochi Tuskers Kerala back in 2011.
