As per the latest laws of International Cricket Council (ICC), a bowler can churn out a couple of a couple of bouncers in ODI cricket while only one is allowed in T20 cricket. Cricket, over the years, has evolved significantly and batsmen have mostly have had their say in coloured-clothing cricket. Needless to say that the bowlers try their hearts out only to be thrashed by the batters in the white-ball formats.

Recently, Mitchell McClenaghan, the New Zealand fast bowler, has raised concerns over the limitation of only a solitary bouncer in T20 cricket. He took to Twitter and expressed his desire of getting the privilege of having two of them. Moreover, he also tagged the world’s apex cricket board in his message. He wrote, “I wish we lived in a world where bowlers could bowl 2 bouncers in t20 cricket @ICC.”

The world’s apex cricket board had a pretty funny reply in place for the 32-year-old speedster. The organisation reverted and wrote, “Perhaps the @HomeOfCricket will need to update its laws relating to bat size.”

A decent for McClenaghan run in CPL

The fast and furious pacer from Hastings in Hawke’s Bay recently ended his stint for the St Lucia Stars, playing in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) of the West Indies. Albeit with an economy rate of 9, he was a tad expensive, the left-armer picked up eight wickets in as many matches. His team, captained by Kieron Pollard has failed to qualify for the playoffs after their ten encounters.

He is currently out of the selectors’ radar for a berth in the New Zealand national team. He last donned the national colours in the Black Caps’ T20 match against England at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi during the 2016 World T20. However, his last international appearance was for the World XI during the T20 match against the Windies in May this year at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Stadium.
