England thumped South Africa by 104 runs but got a reality check as Pakistan slapped them with a 14-run defeat at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. However, the team didn’t succumb to the pressure and beat Bangladesh by 106 runs. Their fourth game is scheduled on June 14 against the Jason Holder-led Windies at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The Caribbean team has quite a bit of work to do as well.

They are placed sixth in the points table with three points from as many games. Windies have lost five out of their six games versus the Proteas in the World Cup, their last victory coming way back in 1979. However, Holder’s men can take heart from the fact that earlier this year, they managed to level the five-match ODI series 2-2, albeit the series was played in the West Indies.

Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:

Captain Suggestions:

Shai Hope

Hope has arguably been Windies’ best bet with the bat in hand. After a decent outing in the tri-nation series in Ireland, he scored a century in the warm-ups. Thereafter, the Barbados-born notched a half-century versus Australia at Trent Bridge as well, though it couldn’t guide his team home. He has the temperament to stave off the best of bowling attacks and will be a key in Friday’s match.

Eoin Morgan

The English captain has done reasonably in the World Cup thus far. He got a 57 versus the Proteas and then got out on nine against Pakistan. In the last match in Cardiff, he scored 35 off 33. Morgan has been a fulcrum of their middle-order for many years and he has to be on top of his game. Moreover, he’ll want to convert his starts and put on a substantial score under his belt

Chris Gayle

The Jamaican has been clear cut in his approach. He has played his strokes freely. In the first game versus Pakistan, he got a fifty. Second time around against Australia, he managed to overturn a couple of decisions in his favour, using the DRS while facing Mitchell Starc. But the pacer eventually got his number. The 39-year-old is in good form and can do serious damage if he gets his eye in.

Vice-Captain suggestions

Jos Buttler

The 28-year-old Jos Buttler has played a couple of crucial knocks in the World Cup. He scored 103 versus Pakistan, though in a losing cause. Then he scored 64 versus the Tigers. But in that game, he developed a hip injury owing to which he didn’t keep wickets. Nevertheless, he has been declared fit to play. Back in February, he got a 150 versus Windies and would have a fair idea of their bowling.

Sheldon Cottrell

Sheldon Cottrell has bowled with pace and ferocity and has picked up five wickets in the three matches he has played. Against South Africa, he got Hashim Amla and Aiden Markram to play false strokes. He hardly errs in hitting the right areas and that makes him a tough prospect to deal with. The 29-year-old left-arm pacer also has a lethal Yorker in his repertoire.

Jason Roy

With 215 runs in three matches, Roy has been a brute force at the top of the order. Not only the World Cup but the entire year has been a pleasant one for the Durban-born cricketer. In between, he experienced an odd failure and got out for eight against Pakistan. Nevertheless, he made amends and scored 153 against Bangladesh. Roy will be one to watch out for in the next encounter.
