It was a good game on a personal front for the out-of-form Hashim Amla. He tried to regain confidence by spending as much time as possible in the middle. Amla didn’t look to take too many chances and played a number of dot balls. He looked solid at the crease and remained unbeaten on 41 off 83 balls.

Quinton de Kock – 8/10

After having blown hot and cold so far in the tournament, Quinton de Kock got some crucial runs under his belt in this game. He was the aggressor in the partnership with Hashim Amla and eased the pressure of him. De Kock got out to Gulbadin Naib after he scored 68 runs off 72 deliveries.

Aiden Markram – 3/10

Aiden Markram hasn’t had many contributions to make in this game except for a simple catch that he took on the field. He took the catch of Gulbadin Naib fielding at deep mid-wicket to give Imran Tahir another important wicket. With Phehlukwayo sent to bat at three, the talented batsman didn’t get a chance with the willow and would be keen on making it count in the upcoming games.

Faf du Plessis – 4/10

Faf du Plessis kept attacking with his bowling changes as well as field changes in this match. He never let the Afghanistan batsmen getaway at any stage and made optimum use of his resources. Du Plessis had a good day on the field as well bagging some important catches.

Andile Phehlukwayo also had a great night with the ball and put his great skill on display. In 8 overs, he only conceded 18 runs and was highly economical. Moreover, the two wickets he bagged in this match are amongst the most prized wickets of the opposition. He dismissed Hashmatullah Shahidi who can be threatening once he gets in and also got the better of the veteran, Mohammad Nabi. Phehlukwayo scored 17 runs with the bat and finished the game for his team with a six.

Chris Morris – 8.5/10

Chris Morris was absolutely on fire in this match and tested the batsmen with swing and bounce. He was the most economical Proteas bowler on the day and hit great lines and lengths. Apart from bowling two maidens, Morris conceded just 13 runs in the total of six overs that he bowled and picked up three important wickets.

Kagiso Rabada – 5/10

Kagiso Rabada, as usual, bowled express pace in this game and hurried most of the batsmen from the opposition. The South African spearhead dismissed the dangerous Hazratullah Zazai when he was batting on 22 and conceded 36 runs in the 8 overs that he bowled.

Imran Tahir – 9.5/10

Imran Tahir bowled an extraordinary spell in this game and troubled almost every Afghan batsman. He was bowling an extremely miserly spell until Rashid Khan decided to take the attack to him. Tahir dismissed Noor Ali Zadran who was looking good. Then, he ran through the middle order dismissing the likes of Asghar Afghan, Gulbadin Naib and Rashid Khan. In the 7 overs that he bowled, he conceded only 29 runs.

Beuran Hendricks – 2/10
