As he’s usually done in this tournament, KL Rahul has taken some time to settle in. He got to a good start and built up a platform. However, he threw his wicket away despite having an opportunity to make it big. Rahul looked slightly tentative with his footwork and by the time he made a decision, the ball went past through the gate to crash into the stumps. The Indian opener scored 48 off 64 balls before he got out.

Rohit Sharma – 3/10

Rohit Sharma seemed to be in good touch while he was batting in the middle. He hit one good boundary and even smashed a six. However, even he got a little tentative with his footwork early in the innings. The ball brushed either his bat or pad on the way and was adjudged not out by the on-field umpire. However, Windies took the DRS and the decision was overturned resulting in a controversial dismissal.

Virat Kohli – 8.5/10

The Indian skipper, yet again, had a wonderful opportunity to get to a hundred. Given the situation of the game, he should have been the one who dug in deep and made the most of it after getting past his fifty. But when he was batting on 72, the 30-year-old seemed to have erred in his judgement slightly and hit the ball straight to the fielder. He had a good day on the field leading the side.

Vijay Shankar – 1.5/10

It was yet another disappointing outing for Vijay Shankar. Coming into bat at number four in a pressure situation, he was expected to take control of things. However, he couldn’t do so and got out to a poor shot after scoring 14 runs off 19 balls.

Kedar Jadhav – 1/10

Kedar Jadhav was promoted to bat above MS Dhoni in the batting order following his fifty in the last game. With plenty of overs left, he had the opportunity of playing another crucial knock. However, the 34-year-old couldn’t execute the plans well. He poked at a delivery outside the off-stump that got slightly high on him. The ball was good enough to find his edge and the keeper took a comfortable catch.

MS Dhoni – 8/10

MS Dhoni wasn’t able to rotate the strike against the spinners early on in his innings. He seemed to have struggled and was scoring at a strike rate of about 50 at one stage. However, the master finisher made up for it towards the end and even scored 16 runs in the final over of the innings all by himself to give India the push. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 56 off 61 balls in what wasn’t his most fluent of innings. He had a rough day behind the stumps as well but took a beautiful catch to dismiss Carlos Brathwaite.

Hardik Pandya – 8/10

Hardik Pandya eased some pressure off MS Dhoni with his big hits early in the innings. The all-rounder amassed 46 runs from only 38 balls at a strike rate of 121 and rotated the strike well. He did a decent job with the ball as well and got the wicket of Sunil Ambris.

Mohammed Shami – 9.5/10

Mohammed Shami had an excellent day with the ball and bagged some important wickets right from the start. He dismissed the likes of Chris Gayle, Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer – who can all be dangerous. Shami also wrapped up the Windies innings by dismissing Oshane Thomas towards the end. In the 6.2 overs that he bowled, he only conceded 16 runs and finished with a four-wicket haul.

Kuldeep Yadav – 6/10

Kuldeep Yadav had a decent outing and was quite tight with the lines and lengths that he bowled. The chinaman took the wicket of Nicholas Pooran and conceded 35 runs in the 9 overs that he bowled. One of these overs was also a maiden.

Yuzvendra Chahal – 7.5/10

Yuzvendra Chahal bowled attacking lines and lengths in the game. While he was slightly on the expensive side, he provided the team with some important wickets. Chahal dismissed Jason Holder as well as Sheldon Cottrell finishing with figures of 7-0-39-2.

Jasprit Bumrah – 8/10

Jasprit Bumrah was literally unplayable in this match and the opposition found it extremely difficult to score runs off his bowling. He bowled 6 miserly overs and conceded just 9 runs. In the 6th over that he bowled, he dismissed both Carlos Brathwaite and Fabian Allen on consecutive deliveries and missed out on a hat-trick as Kemar Roach dead batted his attempted slower yorker.
