If Andre Russell comes in at No.3 and bats 60 balls, he might even score a double hundred: David Hussey

In the above light, Kolkata Knight Riders coach David Hussey is thinking about his plans to promote explosive hitter Andre Russell in the batting order.

Russell’s batting position became the subject of great debate last year when his splendid knocks couldn’t fetch desired results for the team. Now the KKR is ready to send the hitter up the order after snapping England’s Eoin Morgan to have a dominating batting show in the league. With Morgan in the squad, Russell can bat without worries at the top order.

Hussey is of the opinion that the Caribbean great can even score a ‘T20 double hundred if gets to face 60 balls.’ “If it benefits the team and helps us win games of cricket, why not? If he comes in at No. 3 and bats 60 balls, he might even score a double hundred. Anything can happen with Dre Russ. He is almost the heartbeat of the team,” said Hussey as quoted by Times Now.

The West Indies superstar showed a lightening form in the IPL last year, where he scored, massive 510 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of over 200. He was putting up the one-man show for the franchise and brought back the team in the game from impossible situations. He will be looking forward to putting up the same classy show in the coming IPL too.

The Kolkata can trust skipper Dinesh Karthik and Morgan for the finishing roles, Russell will come handy to showcase the attacking attitude. The likes of Nitish Rana, Shubhman Gill, Tom Banton, and Rahul Tripathi will provide the much-needed base to the team. Among all the team, the two-time champions will kick off their IPL journey at last which is on September 23 in Abu Dhabi at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
