The England batting lineup produced a shambolic performance in the second innings of the second Test match at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, as the Virat Kohli-led Indian team thrashed the hosts by a margin of 151 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series.

England was set a target of 272 for victory, but more importantly, they had to survive only two sessions on the final day to force a draw. But the England batting lineup came a cropper, and the England second innings lasted just 51.5 overs.

None of the England batsmen apart from Joe Root could even cross the 30-run mark in the second innings. Also, as many as four of their batsmen were dismissed for a duck.

This was the case even in the first innings too. In the first innings, it was skipper Joe Root who scored a marvelous 180 to help his side come out of troubled waters. Apart from Jonny Bairstow and Rory Burns, who scored 57 and 49 respectively, none of the other England batsmen could cross the 30-run mark. In the first innings too, as many as five England batsmen were dismissed for single-digit scores.
