Team India delivered a magnificent performance in the last Test of the four-match series against England at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium as they emerged victorious by an innings and 25 runs. With this victory, the hosts scripted a memorable win in the Test series by 3-1 and sealed a spot for themselves in the final of the World Test Championship against New Zealand at Lord’s, scheduled from June 18 to June 22, 2021.

This was a matter of pride for the whole nation and head coach Ravi Shastri couldn’t help but feel proud of the Men in Blue for their sheer determination and hard work throughout the series. However, while speaking about the players and their performance, Shastri didn’t fail to throw light at another important aspect, bio-bubble.

In the wake of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, almost all the cricket matches across the globe are being hosted in a biosecure bubble to ensure the safety of the players and other staff. Many of the Indian players have been practically living in the bubble without any real break since August 2020 as they first featured in the IPL 2020 followed by the India tour of Australia and now the England series.

Ravi Shastri opens up on Bio-bubble

Speaking about the same, head coach Ravi Shastri reckoned that bio-bubbles are mentally taxing and the players can’t wait for the bubble to burst. The veteran added that it becomes extremely challenging to survive in a hotel room when a player is not having the best of the times on the field.

“I’m waiting to get out of this bubble. As they call. Been six months in the bubble. And you see the same faces day in and day out. It’s time for the bubble to burst. I know it’s another three weeks, but the bubble will burst. This bubble. When they get up in the morning, their first prayer is “bubble bubble bubble’: Because they’ve been there since IPL. It’s “bubble bubble bubble” before they go to sleep.

“And it’s BUBBLE. People sitting on the outside…you’ve [Laxman Sivaramakrishnan] been in a bubble. You know, you can talk about it. It’s tough for professional players. when they are under the hammer, it is really tough to get your best and come out there and deliver for your country. And these guys have been magnificent. Australia was good, and this was even better,” Ravi Shastri said during the post-match presentation.
