Imran Tahir is extremely excited to be working with Wasim Akram in the PSL

As the third season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) gets going, all the teams seem in great spirits to kickstart their campaign. Multan Sultans a new addition as the sixth team to the league this year are all excited and prepped up. The Multan franchise became the most expensive team of the PSL as they were bought by Schon Properties for a whopping fees of US $5.2 million per year.

The team boasts of international stars such as Kieron Pollard, Kumar Sangakkara, Thisara Perera, etc. While Tom Moody is the head coach, former Pakistani great Wasim Akram is the director as well as the bowling coach. South African spinner Imran Tahir who is playing his first ever PSL was excited to share the dressing room with Akram.

Excited to work with Wasim Akram for the first time 

The 38-year-old is the leader of the spin department in the Sultans camp. Tahir asserted that the atmosphere in the team was really good. He looks forward to playing with the big names in the team and under the captaincy of Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik. However, one personality he is exhilarated to work with is legend Wasim Akram.

“I’m working with Wasim bhai (Wasim Akram) for the first time, so I’m very excited. All of this seems to look amazing. Hopefully, we can do something special!” Tahir was quoted by GEO.tv as saying.

Having been rested for the T20 International series against India, the leg-spinner utilised the break with an early appearance in the PSL. He didn’t have a great One-Day International series against the Indians. He picked up just one wicket in the four games he played failing to inspire any confidence from the team.

However, he would be looking to provide something special for the Multan franchise. After the PSL, he will travel to the neighbouring country India for the IPL. Tahir was bought by the Chennai Super Kings at his base price in the IPL 2018 auction.
