Tamil Nadu and India opener Abhinav Mukund became the latest cricketer to get hitched, as on Wednesday, he got married in a private ceremony. The ceremony was attended by a host of guests, despite it being an extremely private affair. The event saw his Tamil Nadu teammates attend the wedding, including captain Dinesh Karthik, who came with his wife and India’s premier women’s squash player Dipika Pallikal. Also, Karthik was the one to reveal the news that Mukund got married, when he posted pics on his Instagram account from the ceremony and with the newlyweds.

As for the international career, Mukund is nowhere in the picture for the upcoming season. He made his Test debut way back in 2011 against England, has featured in seven Tests for India. However, despite Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir fizzling out of the scene, post the 2011 Test series against England, Mukund could never cement his place in the team.
Six years after making his debut, he was recalled to the Test team in 2017 during the series against Australia but failed to justify his selection. After the failures in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, he was fortunately retained for the Sri Lanka series. He scored 81 in one of the Tests against Sri Lanka, while his batting partner Shikhar Dhawan slammed a brilliant century. With the rise of KL Rahul, Mukund got sidelined and has never been on the radar of the selectors.
Things have gone downhill for Mukund on the domestic front as well. He was removed as captain for the 2018-19 season. But he scored 622 runs with an average of over 51 to make a grand comeback. So far in 139 FC matches, Mukund has 9694 runs at an average of 47.05 with 29 hundreds and a best of 300*. He also has over 3,500 runs in List A cricket with 11 centuries to his name.
