Monday (January 11) was a memorable day for the Indian cricket fraternity. The day started with Team India’s stunning and brave fight in the third Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. India defied all the odds to salvage one of the most famous draws in their Test history. The visitors had their back against the wall when day five of the game started but their batsmen came up with remarkable knocks to save the Test.

And soon after the Test match ended, India skipper Virat Kohli announced that he and his wife Anushka Sharma were blessed with a girl in Mumbai. Kohli took to Twitter to share the news of his baby girl’s birth with the world. Last month, the 32-year old had returned home after the first Test in Adelaide to be at the birth of his first child.

As expected, Kohli has been showered with congratulatory messages ever since he announced the news on the social media platform. India opener Rohit Sharma also made sure to wish Kohli and Anushka for their first child. Rohit, who is also a father to a baby girl, took to Twitter to congratulate the couple, writing:

“Incredible feeling this. Congratulations to both of you. God bless.”

Rohit Sharma impresses on Test return

Rohit Sharma made his much-awaited return to international cricket and Test cricket with a fine display in the third Test against Australia. The just-concluded Test was his first since November 2019 while it was also his first international game since February 2020. Rohit missed the limited-overs series and the first two Tests in Australia because of his injury and then the quarantine period.

And the right-handed batsman hit the ground running on his comeback. After scoring 26 in the first innings, he played a fine knock of 52 in the second innings. In both the innings, he gave India a good start by sharing fifty-plus stands with fellow opener Shubman Gill. Rohit will be eyeing a better performance in the fourth and final Test of the series which is scheduled to take place in Brisbane from January 17.
