The second Test of the two-match series between India and New Zealand is up at Wankhede Mumbai where the hosts have finished up with their batting for 1st innings. As soon as India walked up for bowling after scoring 325 runs, Mohammed Siraj breathed fire on the field. He took three wickets in quick succession to put New Zealand on the back foot right at the start of the innings.

The delivery where he caught veteran Ross Taylor was definitely a treat to the eyes where he maintained the perfect length angling it at batter’s off stump. The peach of delivery was there for all to see where Siraj looked in full rhythm. Talking of his wickets before Taylor, he sent back both openers in form of Tom Latham and Will Young.

It has to be noted that NZ are currently playing at 27 runs with four wickets down (at the time of writing this article) and three of them have come in Siraj’s kitty. Talking of the match so far, the hosts batted first where Mayank Agarwal owned the show completely by playing brave innings of 150 runs. He was well supported by Shubman Gill at the top but Gill couldn’t extend his stay for a long time before returning while scoring 44 runs.

Here is how Mohammed Siraj stunned Ross Taylor

While Mayank remained at the crease for a long time, it was towards the end that all-rounder Axar Patel walked in to chip some crucial runs for India. Patel smashed a fifty to push India to breach the 300-run-mark. Patel who was roped in for Ravindra Jadeja made his contribution mark with the bat and it remains to be seen how he rolls his arms with the ball. Spinner Ajaz Patel created history by taking 10 wickets in an innings on away soil, the mark having done by Jim Laker and Anil Kumble earlier.

It remains to be seen if hosts will be able to clinch the series on home soil or NZ will put them down once again while refreshing WTC final memories.
