The ICC U19 World Cup 2018 finals has managed to fetch a record numbers of views. The India U19 side had beaten the Australia U19 team in the finals of the coveted events for the young colts of the world cricket. It was a thumping win for the Prithvi Shaw led team India who finished the tournament as the undisputed winners.

They managed to win all the matches in the tournament this year. In the finals, the India U19 team had a decent target of 216 to overhaul for the ultimate glory. Riding on opener Manjot Kalra’s unbeaten ton, team India sealed the game with 8 wickets in hand. The match was played on February 3, 2018. As per the reports in the Inside Sport, the match attracted close to 3.3 crore television viewers in India.

Meanwhile, the senior men’s team were also involved in their international assignments at the same time. In the same week, team India played two ODIs against South Africa. The second and the third ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of South Africa was played during the week. The live broadcast of the two one-dayers has grabbed all the positions in the BARC top five sports genre programmes.

Reportedly, the second ODI, which was played at Centurion, was broadcast on Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 3. It has been rated in the fourth and the fifth positions with 4,899,000 and 4,417,000 impressions respectively. In the match, the Indian team had humiliated the hosts by bundling them to a paltry total before chasing it down with 9 wickets in hand. Meanwhie, in the third ODI, it was skipper Virat Kohli’s herculean unbeaten 160 that set the stage for an Indian win.

Sony Ten tops the charts

The live telecast of the match on Sony Ten 3, with 6,441,000 impressions, has been the number one sports show of the week, followed by its simulcast on Doordarshan Sport (6,263,000) and Sony Ten 1 (6,247,000) respectively. The Sony Ten has topped the charts for most views in the top two slots in the order – Sony Ten 1 (240,953,000 impressions), Sony Ten 3 (174,302,000) and Doordarshan Sport (174,302,000) taking the third spot.
