The second Test between India and England seems to be getting better and better for Ravichandran Ashwin. The off-spinner got a five-for in the first innings and followed that up with a century in the second innings with the bat. The century was a master-class for batsmen who wanted to learn how to play spin bowling.

Early on day four, Ashwin was at it once again as he along with Rishabh Pant devised a plan to get rid of Daniel Lawrence of England. As the off-spinner was going to have a bowl for the first time on day four, he was seen talking to Pant regarding something. Out of nowhere, Ashwin fired the ball away on the leg stump.

Lawrence had tried to come down the track multiple times on day three to counter the spinning ball. But, this time, the ball pitched slightly away from his reach and then spun. By this time, Lawrence was almost halfway down the track and Pant collected the ball and managed to dislodge the stumps in time.

Rishabh Pant and Ashwin’s perfect plan to get rid of Lawrence

As Lawrence had already decided to go out of his crease before the ball was bowled, he couldn’t get any bat on it nor did he get his pads to defend the ball. As the replays were shown, it was almost certain that Ashwin and Pant had already decided that the ball would be bowled down the leg side, trying to outfox the England batsman.

In the past, Rishabh Pant’s wicketkeeping skills have been put into question by many experts. But, the young Delhi keeper showed his skills during this Test and proved his worth. He had also taken two spectacular catches in the first innings and now this brilliant stumping.

Chasing a mammoth total of 482, England never seemed to be in control of the chase. Axar Patel took his maiden fifer. Kuldeep Yadav got two wickets, while Ashwin had taken three wickets. India moved to the second spot on the World Test Championship points table and are an inch away from booking a spot in the WTC Final.
