Suryakumar Yadav has had a very interesting entry in international cricket. After toiling hard for years in domestic cricket and in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the right-handed batsman finally earned his maiden India call-up last month for the ongoing T20I series against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

He as well as Ishan Kishan were handed their debut caps during the second T20I of the series. And while it was a moment to cherish for Surya, he did not get the opportunity to make the occasion more memorable. While Kishan opened the innings and scored a blazing fifty to lay the foundation for the chase, Surya could only warm the bench as he did not get the chance to bat.

As if that was not enough, the team-management dropped him from the playing XI for the third T20I in order to make room for returning Rohit Sharma. While the cricketing fraternity was expecting under-performing KL Rahul to make room for Rohit, management decided otherwise. But on Thursday, he was once again included in the team for the fourth T20I and he made it memorable.

Ishan Kishan’s injury gave Surya a golden chance

Suryakumar Yadav got a chance in the team only because Ishan Kishan suffered a groin injury. And unlike his debut game, the Mumbai batsman got a chance to bat in the ongoing game. He did not have to wait long to face his first ball in international cricket. He was promoted him at No.3 after Rohit returned to the pavilion in fourth over.

And Surya made a sensational start to his international career. On the very first ball he faced at the highest stage of the game, he hit it for a six. In-form Jofra Archer bowled a short delivery at 143.9kph at Surya and the latter dispatched it into the stands with ease to open his account.

Suryakumar Yadav displayed his 360 Degree range off the first ball itself staying on the backfoot and and hitting a brilliant shot. The man also scored a wonderful half-century off just 28 balls showing his full range to keep India in the hunt in a must-win game.
