India, on Tuesday, suffered a crushing loss at the hands of England in the third T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The visitors thrashed the hosts by eight wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the three-match series. Virat Kohli scored another impressive fifty but his effort was overshadowed by Jos Buttler’s match-winning fifty.

Asked to bat first, India started in a disastrous manner with the bat. The hosts lost three wickets in quick succession and were reeling at 24 for 3 inside the powerplay. Rishabh Pant (25) got the start but could not convert it into a big score after a poor call from Kohli resulted in his run out. Kohli then single-handedly guided India to a competitive total of 156 for 6.

The skipper remained unbeaten on 77 off 46 deliveries. In reply, England chased down the total inside 19 overs by losing just two wickets. Buttler starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 83 while Jonny Bairstow also played a fine knock of 40.

Virat Kohli loses cool

With not much going India’s way during the second half of the game, skipper Virat Kohli lost his cool and ended up abusing Shardul Thakur. The incident took place in the 12th over of the innings when England were comfortably placed at 98 for 2 with Jos Buttler going great guns with the bat. On the fourth ball of the over Jonny Bairstow inside-edged a fullish googly from Yuzvendra Chahal towards square leg.

Bairstow and Buttler ended up taking two quick runs thanks to a wayward throw from Thakur. Had the pacer managed to make a good throw, Buttler would have been in trouble. The England batsman was batting on 61 at that stage. And after the tough chance to run out Buttler went begging, Kohli lost his cool.

After collecting the throw behind the bowler, Kohli was seen saying something to Thakur in a furious manner. The bowler then seemingly apologized to the captain for his poor throw but Kohli was not done yet. The 32-year old kept venting his frustration at his teammate and ended up saying his favorite cuss words which rhyme with Ben Stokes
