Windies cricketers and T20 giants Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine will not feature in the Windies side during the ODI series against India. The Cricket West Indies (CWI) have procured a list of 25 names who will now have to arrange for an Indian visa. However the trio don’t figure in this list and are hence unlikely to play in the one-dayers against India.

The Windies cricket board is yet to announce its squad for the upcoming ODI series, but sources have revealed that the board has already begun sorting out paperwork for those who could be potentially picked for the series.

A report on Newsday read, “Dwayne Bravo despite leading Trinbago Knight Riders to another Caribbean Premier League title recently looks unlikely to be selected for the T20 squad to India as well, after he was not one of the players contacted by CWI (Cricket West Indies) about getting an India visa in the event he was chosen.”

Meanwhile, CWI CEO Johnny Grave said, “Through the cricket operations department, the selectors have gone to 25 players to get visas sorted for India.”

The ODI series between India and the Windies is set to begin on October 21. The two teams will play five ODIs before taking each other on in three T20 Internationals.

Pollard and Narine currently playing domestic cricket

The West Indies’ Super50 (National One Day Meet), which started on October 3, usually determines the possibility of a player being selected for the national side. However, in this case, the schedule of the India series deterred the board from selecting Pollard and Narine. They are currently playing the Super 50 to mend fences with the board.

“The reason the (long list for the) ODI team was picked before Super50 is because players are flying out of the Caribbean on October 10 to be in India by October 12. There will be a camp in Guwahati before the first ODI game in that city is played. The (benefit of the) Super50 now from the selectors’ point of view will be to look at players who aren’t in India and who don’t perform in India to (then) shuffle the pack for (the) Bangladesh (tour),” Grave was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
