Rain played spoilsport as Day one of the final of the World Test Championship between India and New Zealand was completely washed out. The continuous drizzle at the Rose Bowl in Southampton ensured that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson couldn’t walk out even for the toss.

Just like the many cricket fans across the globe, the wives of the star Indian cricketers were also disappointed as the rain stopped the play. Almost all the members of India’s Test contingent have traveled with their families to the United Kingdom as they will be staying in England for over three months.

After the WTC final, the Indian players will feature in a five-match Test series against England, which will take place from August 4 to September 14. On Friday, June 18, the better-halves of the Indian players were also hoping to enjoy the much-awaited encounter live from the stadium.

However, they were left disappointed as the persistent overcast conditions denied any possibility of play on Day 1. Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma was among the first ones to post on her official Instagram handle regarding the rain.

Sanjana Ganesan shares an update regarding the weather

Rohit Sharma’s wife Ritika Sajdeh also had a similar request as she hoped for the weather to get sunny soon. “Dear rain, I was really looking forward to watching a Test match at the stadium in my pajamas, kindly oblige,” Ritika’s Instagram story read.

India’s ace spinner Ravi Ashwin’s wife, Prithi posted a small clip from Southampton. In the clip, Ashwin’s daughters can be seen enjoying the weather by singing from the stands. She also gave an update during lunch time saying that the fans are happy as the rain has stopped and there are some chances of play resuming.

“Rain has stopped. Fans are happy. I can hear the dol and happy singing. And @ashwinravi99 is going to do what he needs to do – have lunch,” Prithi wrote in the caption along with the video.

Jasprit Bumrah’s wife Sanjana Ganesan, who is part of the broadcast unit, posted a picture of herself ready for the broadcast duties. Along with sharing the picture on her official Twitter handle, Sanjana provided an update saying that the rain stopped during that day.
