Robin Uthappa has been one of the unluckiest cricketers of India. He has proved time and again that he is a quality batsman but somehow hasn’t delivered whenever he was picked in the national squad. The 31-year-old possesses a tremendous record in IPL but has played only 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is for India. He last played an international game for India in July 2015 and surely should have got more chances than what he got.

He has been instrumental in Kolkata Knight Riders’ success over the years and once more, he has stood up for his franchise. This year, he has scored 384 runs in 9 matches at an average of 42.6 and a massive strike rate of 170.6. The right-hander is currently the leading run-getter for KKR and third on the list of highest scorers this season.

Uthappa was consistently opening the batting for KKR until last year but they went in with Chris Lynn initially and later Sunil Narine. Despite a change in the batting order, there hasn’t been a dip in his performance. With his classy batting this year, he keeps reminding the national selectors of his presence and could well find a place in the squad sometime soon.
