Over the years, it has been a breeding ground for numerous youngsters who have gone on to represent their national sides. But it is not limited to just the new players, it is also an opportunity for such players who have been kept out of their national sides to prove their mettle once more.

India has had a rich history of producing tremendous batting talents and because there are just so many, once they are picked in the national side, they need to be extremely consistent to retain their places in the squad. This year, there was focus on several such Indian players who have been out of the Indian side and a few of them have stood out and shown the selectors that they are not done yet.

But this season, he has sent a reminder to the selectors that he is still capable of competing at the biggest stage. The skipper of Gujarat Lions has accounted for 310 runs in 9 matches so far. His average is an astonishing 51.67 and the strike of 140.27 is also great. He has scored 2 half-centuries so far and is the current leading run-getter for his side.

Raina is also amongst the top 10 run scorers in the league so far and is well in the race of the Orange Cap. The performances have come at just the right time when the Indian team is about to be picked for the ICC Champions Trophy. If all goes well for the 30-year-old, we might see him once again donning the Indian colors.

He followed that up with a great show in the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 where he was the highest run-getter of the tournament with 2 centuries and played a pivotal role in India&#8217;s triumph in the big event.

There has been no doubt about the talent of the left-hander but consistency has been the biggest issue in his career. He has failed to perform consistently for India and has had a stop-start career so far. A series of failures and the rise of KL Rahul meant that he was omitted from the squads of all three formats.

But he has done a tremendous job in IPL10 so far and has scored 341 runs in 9 games at an average of 37.89 and a strike rate of 123.1. He has been excellent up the order alongside David Warner and is the second highest run-getter for Sunrisers Hyderabad, just behind the skipper. He has proved time and again that he is a quality batsman but somehow hasn&#8217;t delivered whenever he was picked in the national squad. He last played an international game for India in July 2015 and surely should have got more chances than what he got.
