Shiv Kapur drew inspiration from the Indian skipper Virat Kohli before he went on to clinch his third Asian Tour title at the Panasonic Open India. The golfer, who began the deciding day on joint-first did not let the nerves get the better of him, and put up a four-under 68 to emerge victories by a margin of three strokes.

The golfer then confessed that the Indian team inspired him, in particular, Virat whose attitude and the ability to absorb pressure was an inspiration for his victory.

”I was watching cricket yesterday and when Kohli came into bat and I said that’s the attitude you should have. He takes on the ball from first delivery and all the pressure was on him and that was kind of message I tried to tell myself,” Kapur was quoted as saying by PTI while referring to Kohli’s blazing knock against New Zealand in the second T20I.

Kapur also expressed that passing the yo-yo test in the next one and a half months to qualify for 2020 Olympics is his aim. At present, the yo-yo test is the benchmark for fitness within the Indian cricket camp.

”My goal is to stay fit and be ready for the Tokyo Olympics. Fitness will play a big part in it,” said the 35- year-old from Delhi. “I was playing the pro-am with Nikhil Chopra. I said to him, my goal is to pass the Yo-Yo test in 18 months and only then I will know if I am fit enough to play.”

What exactly is the Yo-Yo test?

In a typical yo-yo test, two cones are placed to mark lines 20 metres apart from each other. The player stands behind the marked lines before instructions to start; they continue to run between the two lines, turning when signalled by the recorded beeps.

After every minute or so, the frequency of the beep gets faster. If they do not reach the line in time, the player must run to the line turn and try to catch up with the pace within two more ‘beeps’. The test is stopped if the player fails to catch up with the pace within the two ends. The results, however, are electronically gathered, and among Indian cricketers, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli are currently at the top of the test.
