India registered their 11th win over Pakistan in World Cup tournaments when they defeated them by 6 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata last night. The prime minister of India Shri Narendra Modi went ahead and congratulated team India by posting a tweet from his official Twitter handle.

Pakistan had batted first in a match attended by lots of former players from both sides like Wasim Akram, Imran Khan, Waqar Younis from Pakistan and Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag from India. Imran Khan and Sachin Tendulkar also said a few words of encouragement and gratitude before the match started.

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was also invited specially by the Cricket Association of Bengal to attend the match and sing the Indian national anthem before the start of the match. MS Dhoni had won the toss and put Pakistan into bat on a pitch that surprised everyone. The match was reduced to 18 overs per side, due to rain and wet outfield before the match.

Pakistan started on a wise note and kept making runs at a decent pace, but when the pressure to score quick increased, their batsmen crumbled under that pressure and lost their way before Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal consolidated some pride for the Pakistanis and took them to 118.
